A redM chapter is a locally led team that brings the mission into its own community. Chapters raise awareness, develop volunteers, organize events and campaigns, build partnerships, and support trustworthy local organizations serving survivors of human trafficking and vulnerable populations.

Each chapter operates within the shared identity, values, safeguards, and mission of redM while responding to the needs of its local community.

Starting a chapter begins with a conversation, not paperwork.

Prospective leaders are invited to attend a Chapter Chat, review the Chapter Guide, learn about the redM model, and begin building a small local team. The next steps generally include:

1. Learning about redM’s mission, values, and approach.

2. Identifying several trustworthy people who can help lead.

3. Understanding the needs and existing services in the community.

4. Developing a relationship with a reputable local organization.

5. Agreeing to redM’s chapter standards and operating model.

6. Beginning with manageable awareness and engagement activities.

Local chapters are encouraged to raise funds through events, sponsorships, donations, and partnerships.

Under redM’s chapter model, 80% of qualifying locally raised funds remains available to support approved local activities and organizations. The remaining 20% supports the shared infrastructure, resources, governance, campaigns, insurance, technology, and administration that enable chapters to operate as part of the wider movement.

redM is volunteer-led, has no employees or facilities, and works to keep organizational operating costs below 10% of net proceeds.
